April is the bottom of the series: wind of 4 Beaufort or more on 36% of days, and the sources describe March to June as offshore and irregular. It can blow, but a trip built only around kitesurfing in April is a gamble. Where to ride in Barra Grande: beach, submerged bank and lagoons
Barra Grande is not a single spot: the village beach and the submerged bank work as one, and the lagoons lie a few kilometres downwind.
The main beach and the submerged bank, in front of the village. A submerged rock bank about 2 km offshore creates the natural flat-water pool the village rides in. At low tide, pools form along kilometres of sand. This is where the schools launch: it works for a first lesson, for progressing, and for flat water in strong wind.
Lagoa do Mangue, a few kilometres from the village. A glassy lagoon ringed by mangrove, cited by the schools as the region's freestyle spot. The sources we consulted do not agree on which direction it lies from the village, and none of them is local: that is why the route is not drawn here. What does not change is the return — upwind or by land — and it is agreed with the school before you leave.
Lagoa La Boca, when the tide opens it. A small lagoon with direct access from the sea, open at the right tide: the closest thing to what a beginner pictures on hearing "flat water". Good for freestyle and for the first runs.
External guides also mention Lagoa da Barrinha and a stretch of rocks and oysters at one end of the beach. No launch point is named here until there is local confirmation.

Where to stay to kite in Barra Grande
The village has three zones — beachfront, centre and the road to the Delta — and the beachfront is the one with its feet in the sand. Keep where you stay and where you ride separate: the school may teach in a different area from the beach in front of your pousada.
In the kite high season, October and November sell out weeks in advance — the destination page recommends booking two months ahead.
How to get to Barra Grande (PI)
The nearest airport is Parnaíba (PHB), with a direct flight from Fortaleza; the road is paved to the village entrance and the last stretch is sand. Coming from Jericoacoara, you arrive along the Rota das Emoções corridor. Times, transfers and flights are in the destination guide.

Downwind from Barra Grande
One long crossing towards the Lençóis and two one-day runs along the Piauí coast itself.
The crossing
Barra Grande → Atins across the Parnaíba Delta
The route that leaves from here and ends in the Lençóis, with the Parnaíba Delta in between. It is a type of journey, not a product for sale: the operator confirms the itinerary, the support and the calendar. One forum source gives the leg ~200 km; operators publish different distances and Rota does not add up a total of its own.
Distances published by operators differ from one another and are not added up here. Inside the Delta protected area, kite manoeuvres in the river mouths are prohibited; riding through is not.
