Private boats leave at any time of day. Saturdays and public holidays are the exception — send us your date and we'll tell you who's sailing.

The Saturday Warning
One of the shared-boat companies does NOT run on Saturdays.
If your trip falls on a Saturday:
- The other company usually sails as normal — but seats fill up
- Private boat: leaves at any time
Overland Alternative: 4×4 Through the Park
There's an overland 4×4 route through the park that some operators run, plus the jardineira (a 4×4 truck, ~R$40, departs early in the morning (confirm the day before), ~2h ride) — the cheapest option. Fair warning, though: in high season the sand road gets seriously bumpy from the constant tour traffic. The boat is faster, more comfortable, and the scenery is incomparable — we strongly recommend the boat.

The boat docks at the Atins port, on the riverbank. From there:
- On foot: Most guesthouses are a 5-15 min walk away (sand streets)
- Quad-taxi (quad bike): ~R$10-20 — in Atins there are only quad-taxis
- No pavement: All of Atins is sand — wear flip-flops

Why It Seems Simple But Isn't
The crossing itself is smooth. The problem is coordination:
- Companies change their WhatsApp numbers
- In low season only the 12:30pm boat runs
- Saturdays = one of the companies doesn't run
- Some include a taxi to your guesthouse, others don't
