Seven days tightens the pace — one night per stop, lodging dominates the Comfortable tier, and transfers weigh heavier because they don't dilute across more days. You cover the corridor, but you don't breathe.

Ten days hits the Jeri-week sweet spot — two nights in Jericoacoara, Lençóis gets room for Atins, and the daily cost drops because transfers dilute. Lodging still leads, but the pace finally fits the landscape.

Fourteen days buys the privilege of time: each stop earns an extra day, transfers dilute even further, and density beats economy. It's not the cheapest per-day budget — it's the one that most honours what you came to see.
R$/DAYR$380 · R$461 · R$500
Estimated values for 2026. Does not include airfare. With 14 days, the cost per day drops — more nights in each place reduces transfers.
Start from São Luís or Fortaleza?
✈ Fortaleza → São Luís
Start with the most accessible (Jeri has more infrastructure) and end at the lagoons. Best if traveling September through November (prioritize wind before lagoons). Fortaleza has more direct international flights (Iberia, Air France).
Our suggestion:When in doubt, start from São Luís between June and September — the full lagoons are worth it and the SLZ→Barreirinhas connection is straightforward. If traveling outside lagoon season, start from Fortaleza.

✈ São Luís → Fortaleza
Start with the Lençóis lagoons (the most fragile highlight — season-dependent) and end with Jeri's winds. Best if traveling June through August. Flights to SLZ are usually cheaper. End in Fortaleza with more return flight options.

🌊 Lençóis Maranhenses — Lagoons full from June to September. Peak in July (school holidays, more expensive). August is the smart month: full lagoons, fewer crowds.
🌀 Parnaíba Delta — Best from May to August. Wildlife more active with humidity, pleasant climate.
💨 Jericoacoara (kite) — Strong, consistent wind from August to December. Peak September-November. Outside wind season, Jeri still works for non-kiters.
🌦 Avoid — January to March: heavy rain in Maranhão, lagoons without water, bad roads between Tutóia and Parnaíba.
Getting started
From São Luís: Marechal Cunha Machado Airport (SLZ) with direct flights from São Paulo (GRU/CGH), Brasília, and Belém. Flights usually 10-20% cheaper than Fortaleza. Airport to city center: taxi ~R$40 or shuttle ~R$25.
From Fortaleza: Pinto Martins Airport (FOR) with direct flights from all Brazilian capitals, plus Madrid (Iberia) and Paris (Air France) — ideal for Europeans. Airport to Jericoacoara: direct shuttle ~4-5h (R$120-250) or overnight in Fortaleza.
Jericoacoara environmental tax: R$41.50/person (valid for 7 days). Paid at the village entrance.
What to pack: SPF 50+ sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, sandals that handle sand and water, light clothing, windbreaker for boat rides and Jeri. Cash is essential — Atins has no ATMs and very few card terminals.

The comfortable minimum is 7 days (intense pace, 1 night per stop). The ideal is 10 days, with 2–3 nights in Jericoacoara and Lençóis. With 14 days, add Barra Grande (PI), Tatajuba, and an extra night at each stop — it's a completely different trip.
For 10 days, between R$2,800 (budget) and R$7,500 (premium) per person, not including airfare. Tour agencies charge R$3,388–R$5,026 for similar packages — going independently is usually 20-40% cheaper with more flexibility.
Yes. All legs have public transport or shared shuttles. The most complex legs are Atins→Tutóia (4x4, requires negotiation) and Parnaíba→Jericoacoara (long, multiple options). Ponte can help organize these legs.
It depends on the season. Between June and September, start from São Luís (full lagoons are the highlight). September to December, start from Fortaleza (prioritize wind season in Jeri). When in doubt, São Luís→Fortaleza is the most popular direction.
Both have international airports with direct flights from São Paulo, Rio, and Brasília. Fortaleza also has direct flights from Madrid (Iberia) and Paris (Air France) — useful for Europeans. Flights to São Luís are usually 10-20% cheaper.
