The Route of Emotions connects Lençóis Maranhenses, the Parnaíba Delta and Jericoacoara across Maranhão, Piauí and Ceará. This itinerary runs from São Luís to Fortaleza in 7, 10 or 14 days. The roughly 660 km shown is the corridor's map extent; the distance traveled depends on access routes, excursions and detours.

In this direction, Jeri comes before the Delta and Lençóis. Compare flights and confirm connections in this direction; outbound timetables cannot simply be reversed.

This itinerary runs from São Luís to Fortaleza. To travel the other way, adjust the overnight sequence and confirm transfers. Direction does not guarantee full lagoons or wind.

  • 🌀 Parnaíba Delta — Choose a Delta excursion around the time available at your base and confirm departure with the operator. A particular month does not guarantee wildlife sightings or navigation conditions.
  • 💨 Jericoacoara (kite) — The second half of the year is generally the reference for planning kite time in Jeri. The season does not replace the day's forecast or guidance from your school or local operator.
  • 🌦 Before choosing dates — Outside the main lagoon season, check circuit conditions and adjust expectations. Rainfall and water levels vary by year; this calendar does not describe a road's condition or a specific travel day.

Start with flights and overnight stops: This plan enters through São Luís (SLZ) and leaves through Fortaleza (FOR). Compare flights for your dates before choosing direction. The first night is in São Luís; the 14-day version has two there.

Arrange the connections: See the guides for São Luís to Barreirinhas and Barreirinhas to Atins. Arrange the onward journey to the Delta and Jeri separately. Confirm times, boarding points, baggage and arrival with each operator.

Jeri tourism tax: The municipal reference consulted lists R$41.50 per person. Check validity and rules in the official ADEJERI notice before visiting.

Before leaving: Ask your accommodation which payment methods it accepts and arrange cash for agreed services. For dune, river and beach excursions, ask your guide about water, sun protection and what to bring.

How much does the Route of Emotions cost independently?

For 10 days, this guide's estimates run from R$2,800 to R$7,500 per person, excluding airfare. They are references for comparing accommodation, food, excursions and transfers. Request quotes for your dates and compare inclusions before choosing individual arrangements or a package; there is no guaranteed percentage saving.

Can you do the Route of Emotions independently?

You can use this guide to arrange the trip stage by stage with accommodation and local operators. That requires confirming every connection, especially between Atins, the Delta and Jeri. The transfer categories show different ways to arrange services; they do not mean every leg has public transport, daily departures or available seats.

Is the Route of Emotions safe?

The plan shown runs from São Luís to Fortaleza. Compare flights, available nights and connections to choose direction. If starting in Fortaleza, reorganize the stages and confirm services that way. Lagoon and wind seasons help with dates but do not determine the best direction on their own.

How do I get to São Luís or Fortaleza?

Use São Luís (SLZ) and Fortaleza (FOR) airports as references when comparing inbound and outbound flights. Air routes, schedules and fares change; check options for your dates with the airlines. Then coordinate the airport transfer with your first overnight and leave a margin on the final day.
