Book the Casa de Caboclo (R$350–600/night) well in advance — it is the only quality pousada on the island and fills quickly. Bring cash, insect repellent, and sunscreen; the island has no pharmacy or shop. The boat from Porto dos Tatus (~11 km from Parnaíba) takes ~30 minutes by speedboat — confirm the tide schedule with the boatman before departing.
The Revoada dos Guarás is the Delta's most moving spectacle: at dusk, hundreds of scarlet ibis arrive in crimson clouds to roost in the mangrove trees — a burst of color that stops time. The island has 17,000 hectares of pristine ecosystems and only ~2,500 residents across four fishing villages.

Spring Tide — Expect more extreme tides. Great for filling lagoons, be cautious at beaches.

We calculate tides using FES2022 harmonics and calibration data from FEMAR reference stations. Heights use the model’s reference-station baseline, not measurements at each village. For rivers and inland locations, the curve is a coastal tide reference; it does not predict local water levels.
