Practical intel

Use Luís Correia as your urban base: it has everything the nearby villages lack (Barra Grande, Macapá) and is 20 minutes from Parnaíba airport. The downwinder from Barra Grande to Luís Correia (~26–30 km) is rated 'very fun and wavy' by kitesurfers — arrange return transport in advance. Praia do Maramar (25 km from center) is the most photogenic kite spot in the city.

Luís Correia has what most kite villages on the Rota don't: 46 km of coastline with eight radically distinct beaches — from wave kiting at Arrombado to natural pools at Maramar and Carnaubinha — plus two high-standard resorts (Aimberê and Carnaubinha) and the convenience of a real city with hospital, bank, and supermarket 20 minutes from the airport.
