You are viewing Tutóia, part of the Delta das Américas ecosystem. Navigate to nearby villages.
Dual hub: access to the Delta and Pequenos Lençóis. Famous shrimp.
Tutóia is transforming from a pass-through town into a destination: access to the Pequenos Lençóis Maranhenses (dunes interspersed with coconut palms, which the Grandes Lençóis lack), the less crowded Maranhão side of the Delta do Parnaíba, and the remote Praia do Arpoador — accessible only at low tide, with kite in all conditions and views that justify waiting for the right tidal window.

Praia do Arpoador is only accessible with an experienced local driver at low tide — do not attempt in your own car. The Kitesurf Life school (9.3 on Booking.com) is the best base camp in the area, with organized transfers to Arpoador. The DUNA Réveillon festival (~R$2,500 ticket) has turned Tutóia into a New Year's destination for a select niche.
