Parnaíba airport has a LATAM direct flight from Fortaleza (1h, far faster than the 7h drive). Stay in the city only as long as needed for logistics — most visitors pass through Parnaíba on their way to Barra Grande, Macapá, or the Delta. The Festival do Caranguejo at Porto dos Tatus (September) is a genuine gastronomic and cultural experience worth scheduling.
Parnaíba is the base city for the Delta do Parnaíba — the only open-sea delta in the Americas — and the logistical hub of coastal Piauí. Porto dos Tatus, 12 km away, is where all kite safaris and ecotourism expeditions begin; the city itself has a historic waterfront, craft market, and the best flight access on the corridor (LATAM direct from Fortaleza in 1h since Sep/2025).
